National Hurricane Center monitoring Tropical Depression in the Gulf
After rounds of heavy downpours today, things have cleared up quite *** bit. Right now on our radar, we’re really not seeing much to worry about. We’re seeing *** small storm kind of popping up down towards Hale County, Taking *** closer look at it. Things have fizzled out, especially over the past 15-20 minutes. This storm is expected to kind of fizzle out and really nothing else to worry about for us throughout the rest of the night. I’m not really expecting many more storms to pop up throughout the over. Night hours, but what has changed for us is this tropical depression that has formed this afternoon and now the 10 p.m. advisory is out and of course things haven’t really changed that much. We’re looking at 30 mile per hour max sustained winds as well as pressure now dropping to 1,008 millibars. What that means is that it is slowly intensifying, but it hasn’t, it hasn’t done. Much it’s still moving north northwest at 3 MPH, so it’s *** very slow moving system and when it moves we’re expecting to see more intensification over tonight’s um overnight hours. Right now we’re seeing *** tropical storm watch in place for the Florida Panhandle. We’ll keep watching how those advisories are going to change for the Gulf shores and into Louisiana as we come over the coming days and the storm actually starts to come together. But really it’s not something that we have to worry about as of right now. We’ll keep an eye on that for you. The cone though hasn’t also changed very much either, but we can see that at um really tomorrow morning and into the afternoon hours we’re gonna see this develop into *** tropical storm. When it does, it’s gonna track west for the most part, and then it looks like if it does make landfall by Texas, it seems as if it will turn into. more of *** depression and start to slow down. Here’s the spaghetti models, which is *** ton of different models that have different trajectories of how it’s going to play out. Main story is that we’re seeing this more north northwest track now. What will change that is based on how that high pressure starts to come into play. Here’s one of the models showing just what it would look like if it were to track up North Northwest towards the Gulf shores and of course. This isn’t going to happen. I can’t guarantee this, but what can happen is it will drive *** lot of that moisture from the Gulf into central Alabama, and that could ramp up some of our rain chances in the early parts of this week. But we do have *** high pressure that is going to come into play throughout the week. When it does move in from the west, this low could be battling this high. When it does, it could actually shift this low out. To Texas, that’s why the trajectory is kind of pushing its way towards Louisiana and Texas instead of through to us. Now those heat indices are going to increase from that high pressure, so it is going to be *** scorcher throughout the start of this week, especially because we’ll have that moisture in place from that tropical depression when it brings it in, it’s gonna make those temperatures feel even hotter through Wednesday, but then we’ll have sort of *** cool front push its. Way through and when it does it could bring some more showers in Wednesday and Thursday, but it won’t last long and it will bring some dry air behind it that will actually make temperatures feel *** little bit more comfortable hit or miss showers for tomorrow and for the next week we’re expecting *** hot humid week for us with *** few storms in the mid part of the week and really just comfortable conditions by the weekend.
