La. (KNOE) – Despite state health inspectors saying there are improvements atNorthern Louisiana Medical Center (NLMC), the hospital is still out of compliance with Medicare conditions of participation, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) said
In a letter dated Aug. 18 to then-CEO Monica Adams, CMS said following the July 29, 2026, inspection the hospital is still out of compliance with three conditions of participation:
- Patient rights
- Radiologic services
- Physical environment

Both radiologic services and physical environment are new concerns listed in the newest letter and were not listed in a June 15, 2026, letter. Patient rights was listed in the first letter
In that letter to hospital leadership, the hospital had until Aug. 30, 2026, to correct the alleged issues. In the newest letter, CMS has extended that deadline to Oct. 1, 2026
The June letter alleged the hospital was out of compliance with:
- Governing body
- Patient rights
- Nursing services
Northern Louisiana Medical Center 90 Day Term Letter by charles.quigley
The hospital had until Aug. 28, 2026, to submit a plan of correction to the Louisiana Department of Health, CMS said
In the hospital’s plan, CMS said the hospital must show:
- The plan for correcting the specific deficiency cited.
- The plan for improving the processes that lead to the deficiency cited, including how the hospital is addressing improvements in its systems in order to prevent the likelihood of recurrence of the deficient practice.
- The procedures for implementing the acceptable plans of correction for each deficiency cited.
- A completion date for the implementation of the plans of correction for each deficiency cited.
- The monitoring and tracking procedures that will be implemented to ensure that the plan of correction is effective and the specific deficiency cited remains corrected and in compliance with the regulatory requirements; and
- The title of the person responsible for implementing the acceptable plan of correction.
The plan of correction must be completed by Sept. 2, 2026, and failure to respond would result in the hospital’s termination from the Medicare program on Oct. 1, 2026, CMS said
