JOHNSTON, Iowa —
ChildServe in Johnston hosted its annual Nurse Camp on Friday
Staff said the goal is to inspire students to explore careers in healthcare amid Iowa’s growing nursing shortage. Students practiced hands-on nursing skills and learned from healthcare professionals during the event

ChildServe emphasized that early career exposure helps students explore nursing while building Iowa’s future healthcare workforce
“For us as nurses, we love the profession that we’ve chosen, and we love working at ChildServe. So it is bucket filling for us to be able to share our passion and our excitement with new and younger kids that are excited about healthcare professions as well,” said Stephanie Nemmers-Bello, director of nursing at ChildServe
Nemmers-Bello said this is the fourth year that ChildServe has hosted the Nurse Camp
