Car slams through Graystone facility in Huntingdon County (The Huntingdon Channel)

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) —Emergency officials say one person was airlifted to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a Huntingdon County personal care home overnight, with police now saying the driver had allegedly pointed a firearm at several people just minutes earlier at a different location

According to Huntingdon Borough Police, officers were dispatched around 12:40 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Washington Street after receiving reports that a man had pointed a firearm at multiple individuals

Police say the victims safely left the area and met officers at a secure location, where they provided a description of the suspect. Officers say they searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him after learning he had fled in a black vehicle

While officers were investigating that incident, the Huntingdon County 911 Center reported a crash on U.S. Route 22 in Smithfield Township, where a vehicle had slammed into Graystone Manor Personal Care Home

Police say the crashed vehicle matched the description of the one driven by the suspect

Officers responded to the scene and confirmed the suspect was the driver of the vehicle. Police add that they recovered a firearm at the crash scene that they believe was involved in the earlier incident on Washington Street

Graystone Manor officials tell 6 News that all 33 residents were evacuated by staff and temporarily relocated to the facility’s Altoona and Bellmeade locations

The facility also said police told them the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed before the vehicle went over an embankment and crashed into the building

Graystone Manor said investigators obtained a search warrant before the vehicle could be removed from the building

Video from the scene showed extensive damage to the side of the building and a large emergency response

One person from the vehicle was airlifted from the scene. Their condition has not been released

No one inside the personal care home was injured

The facility expects repairs to be completed Thursday, allowing relocated residents to return later in the day

Huntingdon Borough Police said the investigation into the reported firearm incident remains active and ongoing

Criminal charges are pending upon completion of the investigation
