RHOC’s Emily Simpson Opens Up About ‘Microdosing’ GLP-1s After a 50-Lb Weight Loss

Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC) star Emily Simpson has been an open book about her health journey, and now that she’s down roughly 50 pounds, she’s sharing how her daily routine has changed

In an exclusive interview withUs Weekly, the 50-year-old Bravo star revealed that while she’s still using GLP-1 medication, she’s no longer adhering to a strict weekly injection schedule

“I do still [use a GLP-1, but] not as much [as] I did,” she said. “I use it now to just kind of, like, maintain. So I’ll go a few weeks and not use it, and then I’ll feel like I’m starting to gain weight, and then I’ll use it again.”

Simpson noted that her initial 12 weeks on the medication were “very regimented,” but her current maintenance system involves spacing the medication out into what she refers to as “microdosing.”

     What Does Microdosing Mean?

In the context of weight-loss medications like GLP-1s, “microdosing” generally refers to taking a smaller dose than the standard prescribed amount or spreading injections out over longer intervals. That said, you should always consult your doctor before making any changes to how much or how often you take prescription medications

     Finding Balance Through Moderation

Simpson shared that her ultimate goal weight is about 10 pounds away, though she prefers not to share the exact number publicly because she doesn’t think it’s a healthy practice. Instead, she’s focused on long-term moderation

“I rarely drink, so there’s not a lot of alcohol in my diet,” she said. “I do love a good Aperol Spritz, like every once in a while when I go to dinner, but that’s about it. I didn’t really eliminate everything [from my diet]. I still will eat, like, a burger at In-N-Out with the kids. I’ll still have ice cream with the kids.”

The biggest change to her diet was kicking the habit of mindlessly snacking on the food her kids left behind on their plates

“I was just, you know, mindlessly eating, which I was very guilty of doing,” she said, adding that she used to pick at her kids’ food and then claim she hadn’t eaten anything all day. Now, she says she’s “more conscientious” of what she’s eating

     The Gym as Therapy

Along with mindful eating, fitness has become a huge part of Simpson’s everyday life. When she isn’t traveling, she hits the gym seven days a week, sometimes for up to two hours a day

“It’s therapeutic for me,” she told Us Weekly. With the chaos of raising kids and managing a marriage, the gym provides a necessary and peaceful escape

“It allows me that, you know, couple hours of freedom to just be alone and be with my own thoughts and try to figure things out,” she said
