JAMMU, Aug 24: SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu organised a one-day conference on “Framework on Mental Health and Wellbeing in School Ecosystem – SAMVAAD”, bringing together experts, academicians, mental health professionals and SCERT faculty for meaningful deliberations on strengthening mental health and wellbeing within the school ecosystem
The proceedings commenced with the presentation by Dr Rohini Sharma, Coordinator, who highlighted vision and objectives of the SAMVAAD framework and its significance in fostering safe, supportive and inclusive school environments

The deliberations focused on understanding the mental health needs of children and adolescents and exploring practical ways to promote holistic wellbeing through a whole-school and whole-community approach
The conference was further enriched by the expert deliberations of Dr Chand Trehan, Director, CARE North – Centre for Counselling, Research and Empowerment; Dr Rohnika Sharma, Director, Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Jammu, and Dr Piyali Arora, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, GDC Udhampur, who joined the programme through the online mode. Other distinguished resource persons included Dr Ravinder Kour, Associate Professor, GDC Basohli; Dr Ambica Kumari, Assistant Professor, Government College of Education, Jammu; Irvinder Kour, Principal, DIET Kud, Udhampur; Rimjhim, Licensed Clinical Psychologist (RCI) and Founder, Kunj Care; Dr Archana Parihar, State Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha and Dr Alka Sharma, Teacher, GMHSS Domana; Dr Archana Parihar, State Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha.
Shabir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Head, Unit-III, Vinod Bhat, Associate Professor, Raj Kumar, Associate Professor, Dr. Neeraj Jandial, Wing Head, and Kamla Dogra, Assistant Professor and Convenor of the programme, Dr Sanjeevani, shared their valuable perspectives on the importance of integrating mental health and wellbeing as an integral component of the school ecosystem. The conference witnessed the active participation of 30 faculty members of SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu
The programme concluded with an inspiring message from Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, who emphasised the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in creating caring, inclusive and emotionally supportive school environments
Proceedings of the conference were moderated by Manu Vasudeva. Rukhsana Gulbadan and Dr Sandarve served as Associate Coordinators, while Deepak Kumar, Akash Khajuria and Yugal Kishor provided support as Technical Coordinators.
