STRABANE Ethnic Community Association (SECA) has successfully delivered its annual Summer of Fun programme, a three-week summer scheme providing children and young people with opportunities to explore creativity, develop wellbeing skills and enjoy sport in a safe and welcoming environment. Each week focused on a different theme, giving children the chance to learn new skills, build confidence and take part in activities designed to support their personal development.Week one focused on art and food, with self-expression, colour and creativity at the centre of the activities.SECA committee member, Michelle Singh and Thai Arts NI, delivered engaging workshops where children explored their creativity through fun, hands-on activities.Week two focused on wellbeing, with support from Mind Over Matter Mindfulness, Connections NI and Wholistic Haven, who delivered workshops on emotional regulation, resilience, mindfulness, relaxation and aromatherapy for children.Young people created their own wellbeing resources, including mindfulness jars, wish boxes, worry dolls and scent rollers, giving them practical tools to help manage emotions and support their wellbeing beyond the programme. The final week focused on sport and exercise, encouraging children to stay active and enjoy moving their bodies.SECA founder, Bobby Rao and coach, Richard Dalzell, delivered cricket coaching sessions, developing teamwork, confidence and new sporting skills. The programme finished with a celebration day at Lock N Load Derry, where children enjoyed laser tag to mark the end of three weeks of fun, learning and friendship.A SECA spokesperson said: “SECA believes that programmes like Summer of Fun play an important role in helping children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships while celebrating creativity, diversity and inclusion within our community. “We would like to sincerely thank the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for funding this year’s summer programme.”Their support has enabled us to deliver meaningful activities that promote wellbeing, inclusion and community connection.”SECA would also like to thank all facilitators and partners who worked hard to deliver the workshops and create memorable experiences for the children.”Their dedication and enthusiasm helped make this year’s Summer of Fun a great success.”

    By healthylife7August 14, 20260

ME is a serious chronic illness that affects, among other things, the immune system, the nervous system and the body’s energy metabolism. At present, the condition is diagnosed on the basis of patients’ symptoms and by ruling out other illnesses. There are currently no biological markers that doctors can use to make the diagnosis.
