The Miami Dolphins reportedly have a workout scheduled with the UFL’s Most Valuable Player

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly set to host a new quarterback for a workout next week

The Miami Dolphins‘ quarterback situation is going to look different for the first time in years. After more than half a decade of Tua Tagovailoa at the helm for the franchise, a new regime has turned the page to Malik Willis to be “the guy” in South Florida. But the work is far from finished. New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has preached a competitive culture in the building at every position. And he comes from a football philosophy that you can NEVER have too many quarterbacks. Complacency at quarterback? An awful thing. So it should come as no surprise to hear that Miami is entertaining another possible addition to the room as training camp nears. NFL reporter Aaron Wilson has reported that Jack Plummer, the UFL’s 2026 Most Valuable Player, has a workout scheduled with the Dolphins next week.

The Miami Dolphins reportedly have a workout scheduled with UFL MVP Jack Plummer

UFL @UFLonFOX MVP quarterback Jack Plummer will work out for the San Francisco #49ers tomorrow, and has a scheduled workout with the Miami #Dolphins next week, per a league

Jack Plummer’s quarterbacking resume does offer a stop in the NFL. He offers no relation to former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer, but he did play at Purdue, Cal, and Louisville before a 2024 stint with the Carolina Panthers. Plummer spent the 2025 season off of a roster and signed on with the Orlando Storm of the UFL in the winter of 2026. Plummer led the Storm to an 8-2 record and led the league in passing yards. He also finished with a 17:1 touchdown-t0-interception ratio. His individual development warrants consideration for teams that have an open-ended quarterback forecast long-term. The Dolphins certainly qualify. And while it may be seen as a negative that the other team with a workout scheduled for Plummer is Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers, I’m not sure it’s the worst competition for Miami. Brock Purdy is entrenched long-term. Mac Jones is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league. Is the development opportunity with Shanahan appealing? Absolutely. But Plummer doesn’t even have a guarantee to be the QB3 or the practice squad option for San Francisco. Miami’s room is much more open. And, in that sense, could be seen as a better overall opportunity. If Plummer makes it through his San Francisco workout and then arrives at the one scheduled in Miami? They’d have to like their chances.

One Miami Dolphins rookie’s obsession should help him outperform his draft status
