New development along Park Drive in Weirton is bringing a mix of business growth, housing and expanded health care, with city leaders saying more projects are on the way
WEIRTON, W.Va. —New development along Park Drive in Weirton is bringing a mix of business growth, housing and expanded health care, with city leaders saying more projects are on the way
Officials said Park Drive has already been busy with projects and that continued partnership between the city and private developers is helping drive progress
“The city of Weirton basically installed the infrastructure and the green space and some of the other amenities, and then the private developers created both the residential and commercial spaces there,” City Manager Mike Adams said
About half of the vacant spots at the location have been filled, and Adams said a major addition is accessible health care
“The really big news out there is the WV Medicine Weirton Medical Center pediatric center, pediatric care center there should be up and running within a matter of months,” Adams said
Leaders said projects like those on Park Drive are setting the stage for additional development
“I think there’s a lot to offer, especially on the park drive area,” Adams said. “There’s a whole separate parcel that could be developed for also commercial and residential, not to mention freestanding parcels
“It’s gonna take time and whenever you build things, sometimes you have to tear some other things down.”
