The world’s biggest YouTuber is using his platform to bring hope to children living with cancer. Here’s how Amgen is helping advance the research behind that hope
Beast Philanthropy, the charitable organization founded by Jimmy Donaldson (also known globally as MrBeast, the world’s largest content creator), joins Stand Up To Cancer, and Amgen to create a global awareness and fundraising effort that aims to accelerate research and the next generation of breakthroughs for cancers affecting children, adolescents, and young adults. The collaboration also supports the launch of a Stand Up To Cancer Pediatric Cancer Dream Team, a new research project dedicated to advancing discoveries for children with cancer.
Donaldson’s latest video “I Helped 100 Kids Fight Cancer” may be one of his most meaningful, as he’s joined by LeBron James, Dr. Mike, and others to grant wishes for 100 children living with cancer
Explaining why LeBron and his foundation chose to get involved, a spokesperson said, “We all know someone who’s been impacted by cancer, so this is something that resonates for all of us. The LeBron James Family Foundation works to uplift people in any way we can, so to be part of such a tremendous effort with a reach of this magnitude is an honor. We can’t wait for the world to see and be a part of this project.”
Behind every wish is something bigger
The hope created in the video begins years earlier—in laboratories, research institutions, and collaborations dedicated to changing what’s possible for children living with cancer
That’s where Amgen comes in
Why Research Matters
Every major medical breakthrough begins with research
What happens in the laboratory today has the potential to change what happens in the doctor’s office tomorrow
For more than 45 years, Amgen has invested in research to better understand disease and develop innovative medicines for patients around the world. Today, the company continues to advance research across oncology, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, rare diseases, and obesity and related conditions, with a commitment to turning scientific discovery into better outcomes for patients
For Amgen, this collaboration represents more than a single video. It is an opportunity to introduce millions of people to the role scientific research plays in improving patients’ lives, while helping a broader audience understand who Amgen is, what we do, and why continued investment in research matters
“Research is how we turn hope into something real for patients,” Jay Bradner, Amgen’s EVP of R&D, AI&D, said while filming with Donaldson. “Every breakthrough brings us closer to changing what’s possible for children and families facing cancer.”
The Stand Up To Cancer Pediatric Cancer Dream Team will bring together scientists and physicians working across institutions to accelerate pediatric cancer research with one shared goal: advancing discoveries with the potential to improve outcomes for children and families facing cancer
William Yank’s Story
Also joining Donaldson and Bradner on camera, William Yank was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 21. Like many young people facing cancer, his life suddenly became a series of treatments, hospital visits, and uncertainty
Today, William is living beyond cancer, advocating for other patients, and looking toward the future. In the MrBeast video, he shares how research shaped his own journey, and why continued scientific discovery offers hope for future patients and families
His story is a reminder that every breakthrough begins long before it reaches a patient
MrBeast’s newest video dropped on Saturday, July 25, at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT on YouTube
While millions will tune in for another unforgettable MrBeast production, they’ll also get a closer look at the role scientific research plays in creating new possibilities for children with cancer, and the partnerships helping make that work happen
