World Gym posts US$6.9 million quarterly profit as expansion strategy gains momentum

    Finance /Fitness

Taiwan-based World Gym Corporation has reported a sharp increase in profitability for the second quarter of 2026, with net profit rising 175.1% year-on-year to approximately US$6.9 million as the global fitness operator continues to expand its club network and invest in new markets

The company, which owns the World Gym brand and operates a network spanning more than 280 locations worldwide, reported second-quarter revenue of approximately US$93.1 million, up 4.97% on the previous quarter and 8.84% year-on-year

Supported by growth in both membership and personal training revenue, World Gym’s quarterly gross margin increased to 21.39%, up 5.55 percentage points on the corresponding period in 2025, while its operating margin reached 11.03%

Earnings per share were approximately US$0.06, compared with around US$0.02 in the second quarter of 2025. The company’s board also approved a quarterly cash dividend equivalent to approximately US$0.057 per share

The results represent World Gym’s second consecutive record quarterly profit since its public listing

For the first half of 2026, the company reported cumulative revenue of approximately US$181.8 million, up 9.1% year-on-year. Net profit for the six-month period reached approximately US$13.8 million, representing a 2.4-fold increase on the previous corresponding period, while earnings per share were approximately US$0.13. The conversions are based on the New Taiwan dollar/US dollar exchange rate prevailing around the announcement date and are therefore approximate

Expansion continuesThe financial results come as World Gym pursues what it describes as a profit-focused expansion strategy.

The company launched 10 new sites during the first half of 2026, including its first World Gym club in Thailand, while continuing to invest in new locations and international growth

World Gym Corporation Chairman John Caraccio said the company’s expansion strategy was beginning to deliver results and noted “since the beginning of the year, the Company has been focused on executing a profit-oriented expansion strategy, which is already starting to yield results

“Even as we invest heavily into new locations, launching ten new sites in the first half of 2026, including the first World Gym in Thailand, profits not only remained stable but continued to show growth.”

Caraccio said the new locations were expected to become increasingly important contributors to revenue and earnings during the second half of the year

The company is also expanding its programs and partnerships in response to international fitness trends, including increased collaboration with HYROX, the expansion of its Pilates offering and the development of a health management platform

World Gym said it remained optimistic about its outlook as its newly opened locations mature and begin contributing more substantially to the business

The company operates 141 locations in Taiwan and, following its acquisition of World Gym International in 2024, holds the global operating rights to the World Gym brand. Its wider directly operated and franchise network spans 10 countries and serves approximately one million members. World Gym Corporation

The latest figures suggest World Gym’s strategy of combining expansion with tighter cost control and improved operating margins is gaining traction, with the operator entering the second half of 2026 in a substantially stronger profit position than it was a year earlier
