SELF-LOVE starts with the small things we do for ourselves every day
For many people, that can be as simple as taking a few minutes to care for their skin, breathe, reset and feel good again. That was the message TV presenter Zanele Potelwa shared when she encouraged people to treat skincare as part of self-care.Zanele said personal care needs the same commitment people give to their goals.“Greatness demands consistency, focus and determination,” she said
“So why doesn’t your skin deserve the same? Your skin is with you throughout your life, and taking care of it should be a priority.”Her message focused on self-love, mental wellbeing, and building simple habits rather than chasing perfection.Wellness expert Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile said there’s also a strong link between healthy skin and mental wellbeing. She said skin is often the first thing people notice, and concerns such as breakouts can affect confidence long before anyone else notices them.Dr Khanyile also highlighted the benefits of keeping a simple and consistent skincare routine. She said daily habits not only improve skin health but can also reduce decision fatigue and promote a greater sense of wellbeing. The conversation formed part of the launch of Ingram’s newly reformulated skincare range at The Greenhouse Café at Rosemary Hill in Tshwane on Thursday, 9 July.Content creators, beauty enthusiasts and media personalities gathered at the launch, where guests were encouraged to “lock in” on routines that support healthy, resilient skin despite busy lifestyles.
Tiger brands managing director Thabani Msomi said today’s consumers are more informed
He said many read ingredient lists, follow dermatologists online and look for products that fit into their daily routines.“People still want moisture and protection, but they also want products that feel indulgent and turn everyday care into an act of self-care,” he said.“Confidence begins with feeling comfortable in your own skin.”Thabani said South Africa’s harsh winter conditions make hydration important. This led to the reformulation of the Ingram’s range to deliver long-lasting moisture, while making skincare more enjoyable. The launch showed that skincare is more than a beauty ritual. It is also about confidence, wellness and choosing yourself one routine at a time.
