Geauga Public Health announced it will be holding several programs next week for senior citizens in Geauga County
A presentation on the upcoming roll-out of the new, state-mandated Septic Operation & Maintenance Program will be discussed from 1 to 2 p.m. July 20 at the Chardon Senior Center, 470 Center St., Building 8, in Chardon
Geauga Public Health recently began issuing five-year operation permits for all traditional septic systems in Bainbridge Township, according to a news release. These permits will require proof of pumping, service, or inspection of septic system at least once every five years, and compliance will be determined based upon maintenance records submitted to the health department

“Parkinson’s Support Group for Geauga Seniors — ‘Boys of Summer’ Film” will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 21 at the Chardon Senior Center
“Boys of Summer: Short Stop” is an award-winning documentary series from 2020 which follows Robert and Dan Cochrane as they navigate through Dan’s Parkinson’s disease since his 2001 diagnosis
“Short Stop is an active meditation on love, limits, and what it means to keep showing up,” the release stated
Dr. Robert Cochrane will join the program virtually after the film for a question-and-answer session and discussion about the film

“Diabetes Support Group for Geauga Seniors — Meal Planning” will be held at 2 p.m. July 21 at the Chardon Senior Center
Attendees can join dietitian Stefanie Jarrett and chef Joe Matteucci from UH Geauga Medical Center for meal planning and food preparation. They will put together diabetic friendly meals, receive handouts and tips, and enjoy food prepared by Matteucci, the release stated
