The USDA reports that some 10-pack boxes of Red’s Steak, Cilantro, and Lime burritos were under a public health alert after a labelling error led to an undeclared allergen

A labeling error has led the U.S. Department of Agriculture to issue a public safety alert for frozen burritos made by a popular brand and sold in Costco stores

The alert was issued after a customer discovered that supposed 10-packs of Red’s Steak, Cilantro, and Lime burritos actually contained another product. The statement from the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service did not say what that product was but noted that eggs were one of its ingredients

    Why you should care:

The mislabeling mistake by Red’s meant that customers were not only getting a different type of burrito than they originally wanted, but they were also getting one with an undeclared allergen, i.e., the eggs. The USDA statement noted that no illnesses related to eating the products have been reported

The USDA reports that some 10-pack boxes of Red’s Steak, Cilantro, and Lime burritos were under a public health alert after a labelling error led to an undeclared allergen

    The backstory:

The affected burritos had been shipped to Costco distribution locations in Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. They were all produced on June 19, 2026, and bear the establishment number “EST. 46069” in the USDA mark of inspection. A list of the production lots is at the end of this article.

The USDA noted that a recall was not utilized in this case because the product in question was not still being sold.

    What you can do:

While the burritos are no longer being sold, the USDA issued the alert over concerns that wrongly labeled boxes may still be sitting in customers’ freezers. Health officials recommend not eating the burritos and either throwing them away or returning them to where they were bought.

    The USDA listed the production lots, which are found on the side of the cartons, included in the alert: L1 SD6170 1503, L1 SD6170 1535, L1 SD6170 1606, L1 SD6170 1639, L1 SD6170 1717, L1 SD6170 1750, L1 SD6170 1831, L1 SD6170 1908, L1 SD6170 1954, L1 SD6170 2031, L1 SD6170 2108, L1 SD6170 2130
