If you were watching the Caleb Williams press conference and thinking the Bears QB looked lighter, I just know that you are not alone. And that is because he is — but don’t you worry, friends. This is good news

While talking to reporters at Halas Hall on Wednesday, Williams said he lost 10-15 pounds in the offseason. As for his secret to weight loss, it is as simple as you might expect

“Eating at certain times,” Williams said, ust eating consistently, eating well.”

Sure, it sounds easy. But if it were that easy, then everyone would do it

Caleb Williams Loses 10-15 Pounds With New Offseason Plan

The motivation behind the weight loss is simple enough. Williams says he wants to “move a little bit better, be smoother” in 2026. I didn’t think Williams looked clunky when he was on the move last year. But if he strives to be smoother this season and it helps the Bears win games, then I am all for it. Plus, I’ll always be supportive when others offer self-improvement plans. Sometimes, it even inspires me. Eating after 7 p.m. will be challenging. However, if QB1 can do it, why can’t I? But I digress.

CALEB WILLIAMS SPEAKS:Super Bowl Goals, What Ben Wants, More

One of my favorite fun facts that I learned in the offseason was that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was tied with a handful of running backs with the fourth-most 20+ mph runs this past season. As you might expect, Williams was tops among NFL quarterbacks. But being tied with the likes of Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Breece Hall, De’Von Achane, and Bijan Robinson in a speed category puts into perspective how Chicago’s QB1 was moving last season. And now that he has lost weight, I imagine he could be even faster.

Caleb Williams ran the ball 77 times, gained 388 yards, and scored three touchdowns. Those numbers were a bit of a step back from his rookie season in 2024, when he ran for 489 yards on 81 carries. But I won’t complain about fewer rushing yards or attempts after a season in which Williams set the franchise’s single-season passing yards record. Plus, I don’t really want him running all that much. This isn’t to say I want to take it out of his game. But I’d like to keep him out of harm’s way as much as possible. And, to me, that means fewer total runs.

The latest projections from ESPN have Williams running 71 times for 382 yards and a pair of touchdowns. They also have him throwing it 528 times, racking up 3,823 pass yards, and tossing 25 touchdowns. And when you think about how projections being conservative by nature, then you should see these numbers as a floor — and not a ceiling — for what QB1 can do in 2026
