    Plant-based tea luncheon brings focus to microbiome health

    The Franklin County Visitors Bureau will host “Microbiome Magic,” a Lunch & Learn program focused on gut health and plant-based eating from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Great Room of the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center, 15 S. Main St., Chambersburg

    The event is part of the Healthy Eating Adventure series, according to a community announcement. The program follows the publication of “Healthy Eating Adventure: The Science, Success Stories and Recipes for a Plant-Based Lifestyle,” a book co-authored by Liz George and Chef Nick Iula that debuted in May 2025

    Karin Lee, a member of the Healthy Eating Adventure team, will discuss the role of a healthy microbiome in physical and mental wellness. Organizers are pairing the presentation with a tea-themed lunch featuring whole-food, plant-based menu items

    Plant-based menu featured at tea-themed event

    Karen Stiffler is preparing the tea service and plant-based menu, which includes:

    • Chickpea and avocado finger sandwiches with lime and cilantro
    • Chickpea and avocado finger sandwiches with lemon and basil
    • Cucumber sandwiches with sprouts and chives served with an oil-free vegan spread
    • A fruit presentation
    • Fresh vegetables and vegan crackers accompanied by four spreads, pâtés and pairings
    • Kale and apple salad with Dijon dressing
    • A selection of vegan pastries and other treats

    According to the announcement, the event is designed to introduce attendees to whole-food, plant-based eating while exploring topics related to microbiome health and overall wellness

    Visitors bureau promotes health-focused gathering

    Organizers encourage participants to use the lunch hour to learn about nutrition, gut health and wellness while enjoying tea and plant-based foods

    The Franklin County Visitors Bureau said in the announcement that the gathering will take place in the Great Room on the second-floor of the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center
