    WASHINGTON —

U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the host of a brand new cooking show

The government-sponsored YouTube cooking show called “The Real Food Show” aired its first episode Thursday, hosted by Kennedy

The first episode featured chef Andrew Gruel, a Fox News contributor and city councilman in Huntington Beach, California, where he owns the Calico Fish House

According to Kennedy, the show is designed to help Americans prepare healthy and affordable meals using everyday ingredients

“The Real Food Show reminds Americans that healthy eating starts at home — and that cooking with real food can be simple, affordable, and within reach for every family,” Kennedy said. “By bringing people back to the kitchen table, we can strengthen our families, improve our health, build healthy habits that last for generations to come, and Make America Healthy Again.”

Upcoming episodes will feature some of America’s most celebrated chefs, a news release says

The show will revolve around new dietary guidelines that the Trump administration rolled out earlier this year

The guidelines bring back a food pyramid, which has not been a part of guidelines since before MyPlate was introduced in 2011. This time, the visual represents an inverted pyramid with protein, dairy, healthy fats, vegetables and fruits on top and whole grains on the bottom. The updated guidance encourages Americans to eat more whole foods while limiting ultra-processed foods and added sugars, a shift many nutrition experts praised as consistent with longstanding public health advice

Critics, however, say the guidelines’ greater emphasis on red meat, full-fat dairy and higher protein intake departs from decades of nutrition research and was not supported by the independent scientific advisory committee’s recommendations
