Dylan Dreyer shared a rare insight into her diet during the August 7 instalment of the Today Show. During a food segment with lifestyle anchor Ally love, Dylan, and her co-stars, Craig Melvin and Al Roker, discussed the correct order in which you should eat your meal

“Eat the veggies first, then your protein, then have your starch,” shared Ally. “Why’s that?” asked Al. “Because it stabilizes your glucose post meal,” replied Ally

Craig shared his surprise at the nutritional advice, “I never knew that,” he said. “And you’re going to fill up on the good stuff and once you’re full you’ll probably stop eating,” explained Ally

Dylan then admitted to a common scenario many people face with their meals. “My problem is I eat the full plate and then go back for seconds,” she shared. “That’s not bad. Start with the good stuff, let it fill you. We never want to take away things from people,” replied Ally.

“I’ll be walking Bosco and all of a sudden I’ll just break out into lunges or I’m watching TV and I’ll stand up and do some squats,” she shared

“Not many, but enough so that it takes the guilt off from the bowl of ice cream I’m about to eat.”

Dylan shares three sons, Calvin, Oliver and Rusty, with her ex-husband Brian Fichera. She also swears by the Soto Method, which is described as “a mix of cardio and sculpting movements designed to maximize burn and efficiently deliver a full-body workout.”

“5 kids between the 2 of us!! I know I rave about @sotomethod all the time, but I’m so thankful to @hoffhil for creating this workout class that so easily fits into the busiest of schedules. I usually do the class on line but today she kicked my butt in person! There’s a link in my bio for a free trial if you’re up for something new! You won’t be disappointed…she’s the absolute best!!,” she also penned on Instagram about the workout

Dylan is also very careful about the food she keeps in her home due to her son Calvin’s Celiac Disease diagnosis – a chronic digestive illness triggered by eating gluten

During a chat with HELLO!, Dylan explained that the UK offers a great selection of gluten-free products at a fair price – something that is crucial for her when travelling. “I just want to say kudos to Waitrose and, you know, really so many of the grocery stores in the UK, because I mean celiac disease here in the United States… I don’t know if it’s not taken as seriously or what, but it’s like more of a nuisance in the United States and you have to kind of find places where you can, maybe get some stuff and it’s okay,” she explained.

“And it’s getting better but to go into Waitrose and it’s just a basic gluten-free flour, it’s not made with anything, you know, expensive. The fact that I can order it on Amazon for $20, or I can buy it in Waitrose for £2, it was absolutely shocking,” she continued

Dylan continued: “So all I did was fill up my suitcase with mostly flour but then like just the treats are different, you know, the biscuits and the cookies and just the bread, oh my gosh.”
