    Infectious disease specialist Dr. Sarah Lofgren joins Sanford Bemidji Main Clinic

    Minn. – Sanford Health is pleased to welcome infectious disease specialist Sarah Lofgren, MD, to the Sanford Bemidji Main Clinic, located at 1233 34 St. NW, in Bemidji. 

    Dr. Lofgren is a board-certified expert in infectious disease. She provides health education and counseling for acute and chronic infectious diseases. 

    She treats a variety of conditions, including: 

    · Hepatitis C

    · Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

    · Mycobacterial infections, including tuberculosis

    · Orthopedic infections

    · Sexually transmitted diseases

    · Skin and soft tissue infections

    · Staphylococcus aureus infections (staph)

    · Surgical site infections

    · Tickborne illnesses

    · Travel advice and travel-related infections

    Dr. Lofgren graduated from Thief River Falls High School before earning her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Minnesota Morris. Following medical school at Duke University in Durham, N.C., she completed her residency in internal medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga. She also completed an infectious disease fellowship at the University of Minnesota

    She holds professional memberships at the American Federation for Medical Research, the Infectious Disease Society of America, the International AIDS Society and the Research Society on Alcohol. 

    Dr. Lofgren and her husband live in Bemidji with their daughter. They enjoy the outdoors, gardening, traveling and spending time with their church community. 

    “I grew up watching my father care for people from all walks of life in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Now, I’m doing the same in Bemidji,” Dr. Lofgren said. “I believe in providing empathetic care for patients with a variety of infections and enjoy following their journey.”
