Fla. (WWSB) – Amy Schmidt is a podcaster, author, and founder and CEO of “Fearlessly Facing Fifty.” She said self-care needs to be bigger than something bought or scheduled into a calendar
Schmidt said she has spent years talking to women about confidence and reinvention, and while writing her book, “Creating The Right-Sized Life,” she came to believe real self-care is bigger than typical routines like exercise, meditation, journaling, meal prepping, drinking water and getting enough sleep
“Self-care is how we advocate for ourselves, how we speak to ourselves, how we recover, how we allow ourselves to change, and whether we’re still giving ourselves something to look forward to,” Schmidt said
Schmidt outlined five ways she wants women to redefine self-care this month
Schmidt said women should not out
“Your inner voice lives with you 24 hours a day,” Schmidt said. “Make sure she’s someone you’d want to have coffee with.”
Schmidt said instead of asking, “How do I get back to who I was?” women should ask, “Who am I now — and what does she need?”
Schmidt said rest is not something a person earns only after becoming exhausted
“Self-care isn’t only taking care of the woman you are today,” Schmidt said. “It’s giving her a reason to be excited about tomorrow.”
