A new workout routine is coming next year to San Antonio, creating new opportunities for first-time franchise owners to operate a business and for locals to get fit

The reformer-based chain Bodybar Pilates plans to open three studios in the Alamo City, with locations slated for Stone Oak, La Cantera and Alamo Heights

Bodybar Pilates offers high-energy workouts that are designed for all fitness levels. Its studios offer low-impact workouts that incorporate machines, like the reformer and exo chair, that build strength and improve mobility

The chain has 86 studios nationwide, with another 30 set to open this year. The first Bodybar Pilates studio opened in 2012. There are currently Texas locations in Austin and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

For Laurie Falcon and Eric Falcon, the expansion marks a chance to pivot careers and debut as franchise owners.

The husband-and-wife team plan to start the string of openings with the Alamo Heights studio beginning operation next spring. The spouses will then open the two additional studios. After the first lease is signed, the duo will hire up to 15 members, who will work in roles that include studio manager and Pilates instructors.

“We’re excited the Falcons have taken the opportunity to bring Bodybar Pilates to San Antonio,” Chief Executive Officer of Bodybar Pilates Matt McCollum said. “San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing metro regions in Texas, and it’s an area we’ve always wanted to have a presence in.”

Laurie Falcon worked as a nurse practitioner for years, most recently conducting disability evaluations for veterans. Her husband is a U.S. Air Force veteran who recently retired after 34 years working as a Department of Defense firefighter.

The couple decided to become first-time franchise owners while searching for a life change that would allow them to continue making a difference in people’s lives, they said in a news release

“Eric and I are so honored to spearhead Bodybar Pilates’ development efforts in San Antonio,” Falcon said. “When we were looking into franchises, we knew we weren’t just investing in a fitness studio. Bodybar’s mission aligned perfectly with our family’s values and made them the clear choice.”

The San Antonio expansion will mark the boutique fitness franchise’s first Alamo City studios, and the brand is looking to grow. It is seeking nationwide single and multi-unit franchise opportunities, with investments ranging from around $430,000 to $756,000.
