Danielle Friedman Joins Well as a Fitness Reporter

We’re thrilled to announce that Danielle Friedman is joining the Well desk as a reporter covering fitness, a beat that is central to our desk’s mission and very popular with our readers
Danielle has spent more than two decades covering health, science, gender and culture. For the past four years, she has been a regular contributor to Well, reporting on the personalities and trends shaping fitness culture and translating the latest exercise science into actionable advice.
She has written some of our most well-read fitness stories, including delightful profiles of the 102-year-old French yoga teacherCharlotte Chopinand the “Slow AF Run Club” founderMartinus Evansand aninteractive featureabout the decade that changed fitness forever. As the author of the 2022 book “Let’s Get Physical: How Women Discovered Exercise and Reshaped the World,” a history of women and fitness, she brings a depth and breadth of knowledge about the origins of contemporary fitness culture to her reporting. She has also reported on women’s health and race and gender disparities in medicine and wellness.
Danielle was previously a senior editor at NBC News Digital and The Daily Beast and a nonfiction editor at Penguin Books. She is a graduate of Duke University and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Sheis also a proudslowrunner and is currently training for her fourth marathon
