Jim Monaghan’s guest on Jersey Magazine is Dr. Leigh Wilson, Medical Director, NYC Health + Hospitals WTC Health Program Clinical Center of Excellence (CCE)

As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, many Americans will reflect on where they were that day. However, for a generation who were too young to fully understand the full impact of the event, the story continues in a very different way

Today, those children and teens are young adults (ages 25-46), and some may now be experiencing chronic health conditions without realizing their symptoms could be linked to their 9/11 exposure

Many of these individuals may also be unaware that they could be eligible for no-cost health care and medical monitoring through the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program —a federally funded program administered by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The Program is focused on reaching this often-overlooked population and connecting them with the medical care and monitoring they may need. For many, the story of 9/11 did not end 25 years ago—it is only now beginning to surface in their mental and physical health

How Reading Can Help Slow the Pace of Your Summer

Jim Monaghan is joined on Jersey Magazine by Barbara Hagen, Vice President of Marketing at ThriftBooks

If you long for a time when summer seemed to move at a slower pace, reading can prove to be a surprising way to relax, reduce stress, and maybe even make summer feel as if it lasts a little longer

Barbara offers her thoughts on reading trends for the summer of 2026, and talks about ThriftBooks recently donating 25,000 books to a New York City non-profit organization

The United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026 and John T. Palmer has authored a fascinating new book, GEORGE WASHINGTON’S ONE-MAN ARMY: The Life, Legend, and Battles of Peter Francisco

Francisco’s story begins in the Portuguese Azores where he was born before being kidnapped and ultimately abandoned on a Virginia dock

His exploits during the Revolutionary War, some of which happened here in New Jersey, make for a fascinating read

John T. Palmer retired from the United States Navy as a rear admiral, having served thirty-two years including nine afloat. You can learn more about him on his website – https://jtpalmerenterprises.com

Preventing stroke starts with a healthy lifestyle

    By healthylife7August 16, 20260

Stroke or “brain attack” was the third leading cause of death in the country in 2025, accounting for roughly 10% of total deaths last year. A stroke is a critical medical condition that happens when the brain’s blood supply is disrupted, either by a blockage (ischemic stroke) or by bleeding (hemorrhagic stroke). When blood flow…
