FBI searches Quality Behavioral Health facilities in Detroit, Troy, amid federal investigation

The FBI searched several locations connected to Quality Behavioral Health on Tuesday, including facilities in Troy and Detroit, as part of an active federal investigation, officials said
The attorney for Quality Behavioral Health CEO Naveed Syed confirmed to Local 4 that federal agents searched Syed’s home at 6 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 25)

Hall said the FBI could not confirm activity at specific addresses or provide details about the searches’ purpose
Federal agents were seen at several Quality Behavioral Health locations, including facilities in Troy and on Detroit’s east side
The FBI has not disclosed what prompted the searches, saying only that agents were executing search warrants
Quality Behavioral Health is a contracted provider for the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, which provides behavioral health services in Wayne County
DWIHN said it learned recently of a federal investigation involving one of its contracted providers and is working to ensure the investigation does not disrupt services for patients
“The people we serve place their trust in our provider network during some of the most challenging moments of their lives,” DWIHN President and CEO James E. White said in a statement. “That trust is something we take seriously every single day.”
DWIHN said it is prepared to facilitate referrals to other providers within its network if necessary
The agency also said it has “zero tolerance for violations of applicable law, including fraud, waste and abuse” and that anyone found responsible for wrongdoing should be held accountable
DWIHN emphasized that the investigation involves one provider and does not reflect the work of the hundreds of other organizations in its network, which serves more than 123,000 individuals and families each year
The agency said it remains focused on supporting its members while the federal investigation continues
