Signals intelligence companyHawkEye 360reports demonstrating tactical direct downlink while participating in the multilateral Valiant Shield military training alongsideLockheed Martin.
HawkEye 360 detailed a machine-to-machine pipeline with Lockheed Martin’s CommandIQ command and control integration platform and HawkEye 360 on-orbit data collection and signal processing.
The company said that multiple commercial space-based RF signals intelligence collections per day were relayed to Lockheed Martin’s edge processing node which HawkEye 360 and Lockheed Martin processing. This generated “high precision track custody for advanced defense systems such as the LM Aegis Combat System,” HawkEye said.
“We debuted commercial RF tactical direct downlink capabilities, enhanced the track custody performance of our integration with Lockheed Martin while significantly improving latency performance,” HawkEye 360 COO Todd Probert said in a statement.
The Valiant Shield exercise took place in late June through July 1 in the Indo-Pacific region with U.S. Pacific Command joint forces and allied and partner forces. It is a biennial field training exercise focused on integrating interoperability training in a multi-domain environment
