Jelly Roll is shedding light on a resurfaced bad habit, months after his split from wife Bunnie Xo
The “Son of a Sinner” rapper opened up about his struggles in his weight-loss journey during a July 10 episode of his YouTube vlog series. He told health influencer Salvatore about his mindset on eating and what “changed my relationship with food,” as well as revealed what has set him back as of late
“I’ve been overeating the last three or four days, and I was feeling myself stress eating,” he said. “And then, what else happened was the addict in me came out.”
Jelly Roll, 41, said it took one “dairy-free skillet cookie” from a restaurant his team catered from to send him into a spiral
“I don’t eat nothing like that. I’m like a drug addict. You can’t eat that, because if I eat one, I eat two.” But eventually, he said, “I eat four.”
The singer added that later that night, he indulged by eating peanut butter fluff and went looking for a chocolate bar. “I’m like, ‘Damn, that fast, now I’ve consumed 2,000 extra calories today that I didn’t even see coming.’ Now I have to really pay attention to it,” he said
The country star has been on a yearslong weight-loss journey. As of May, he was closing in on being down nearly 300 pounds from a starting weight of over 500 in 2024. Jelly Roll didn’t say how much his overeating episode cost him weight-wise
“I can’t have one [of] anything. What I learned is, how you do anything is how you do everything,” he said, comparing his habit to drinking alcohol or doing drugs, where he can’t do things in moderation. “I can’t. It might be a five-day food bender for me.”
But as Jelly Roll told Salvatore, “Give yourself grace on those days you eat four skillet cookies. I’m still doing it.”
While the rapper continues to get candid on his health journey, he has continued to stay mum on his split from Bunnie, real name Alisa DeFord, after he filed for divorce in May. TMZÂ surfaced the news a month later on June 15, and a divorce filing obtained by the USA TODAY Network noted the couple separated on May 9
Bunnie has been more open, quipping on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast that she just got out of a “10-year bid,” referring to her marriage with the “I Am Not Okay” rapper. But she also praised the relationship, saying on a June 18 episode, days after the divorce was publicized: “There will never be another ‘Jelly and Bunnie.'”
And in a July 9 episode, the podcaster condemned a recent video circulated of her kissing reality-TV star Dylan Wolf, 24, at a Nashville bar owned by her Grammy-winning ex
“You’re literally videoing a woman who’s trying to move on with her life and has been through hell this entire … year, and it’s like, you couldn’t just for one second let her just have a moment?” she said
