Kelly Osbourne is speaking candidly about the cruel scrutiny she faced over her noticeable weight loss while grieving the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne
In an exclusive Sept. 1 interview with HELLO! magazine, the 41-year-old television personality acknowledged that she struggled to process the comments about her appearance following the July 2025 death of her father, who died from a heart attack at 76.
“I didn’t navigate it – I wasn’t well,” Osbourne told the publication. “How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick?”
Osbourne said she is now improving and has the support and professional help she needs. She also credited the people who remained by her side during what she described as the hardest year of her life, noting that grief can reveal which friendships are genuine

“You’ll find when you’re grieving is that people don’t know how to handle it, and you do lose a lot of friends,” Osbourne said. “But the ones who stick around are the real ones.”
Osbourne shared that although her health is “not going to be fixed in a day,” she’s taking the right precautions to eventually get better
Her appearance drew heightened attention after she joined her mother, Sharon Osbourne, at the BRIT Awards in February to accept a posthumous lifetime achievement award on Ozzy Osbourne’s behalf
As comments about her weight circulated online, Osbourne publicly pushed back against people criticizing her body

She addressed the backlash on an Instagram Story, writing, “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.”
“None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character,” her post read. “I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way.”
Osbourne has previously opened up about her experience using Ozempic for weight loss. She also underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2018 and has spoken openly about her changing body, including gaining weight after welcoming her son, Sidney, with musician Sid Wilson in 2022
In her new interview, Osbourne said her recovery remains gradual and begins with addressing her mental health. Therapy, she explained, has helped her better understand herself and how childhood experiences continue to affect her behavior
“It’s one foot in front of the other. You’ve got to fix the head before you can fix the body. It’s a slow process. It’s going to take me a minute,” Osbourne shared. “I’m not going to be fixed on one therapy session. This is a lifetime of work I’ve got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life.”
