KUALA LUMPUR: MPs should organise <a href="https://healthylife7.com/3-apple-watch-running-features-i-wish-id-known-about-sooner/” title=”3 Apple Watch Running Features I Wish I'd Known About Sooner”>running programmes such as ‘Larian Cergas’ in the respective constituencies to promote a healthy lifestyle, says Tan Sri Johari Abdul
The Dewan Rakyat Speaker made the call following the inaugural 5km Larian Cergas run held at the Parliament grounds
He said the programme marked the beginning of the initiative, which will be monitored for implementation in all parliamentary constituencies
“I will monitor the progress of this initiative to ensure its implementation in all constituencies
“We will then compile the total running distance from all constituencies, from Perlis to Sabah and Sarawak
“Perhaps we can break a world record with all MPs participating,” he told reporters after participating in the run yesterday, Bernama reported
Johari said the programme aimed to strengthen ties among MPs regardless of political affiliation, while encouraging them to lead by example in adopting a healthy lifestyle
He said the initiative was also for the benefit of the people, adding that maintaining good health was the priority
The initiative complemented existing efforts in Parliament, including the sugar-free day observed every Wednesday and mandatory health screenings for MPs
Johari said the inaugural run received encouraging response, with more than 600 participants from various states taking part
“This is a good start and I am confident programmes like this will continue to grow in all parliamentary constituencies,” he said
