Consumer Man Herb Weisbaum, a contributing editor at Checkbook.org, explained how the new Medicare program works, including that the Medicare bridge program does not cover all drugs in the GLP-1 family.

Medicare’s new GLP-1 Bridge Program is now covering prescription medications in the GLP-1 family for people who qualify when the drugs are used solely for weight loss. The medications can cost as much as $500 per month
ConsumerMan Herb Weisbaum, a contributing editor at Checkbook.org, explained how the new Medicare program works. The Medicare Bridge program does not cover all drugs in the GLP-1 family, Weisbaum said
Weisbaum also noted that not everyone will qualify for the coverage
For Medicare beneficiaries who have Part D coverage and qualify based on their BMI, the program includes a process to get started. Weisbaum also addressed questions about how effective GLP-1 drugs are and whether people who begin taking them need to stay on them indefinitely
