The Windermere Police Department joined the Ocoee Police Department and Orange County Fire Rescue in a joint training exercise

The exercise Tuesday, July 21, was designed to protect children and the community in the event of an active shooter incident

The training also included introducing law enforcement officers to Stop the Bleed training, which teaches people how to control bleeding in a given situation.

The importance of working alongside fire rescue teams to provide lifesaving care to victims as quickly as possible also was reinforced during the training

“Training together before a crisis is critical,” the town of Windermere posted on social media. “Exercises like these allow first responders to build relationships, practice coordinated response strategies and strengthen communication between law enforcement and fire rescue personnel.”
