On has launched the Cloud X 5, the newest version of its versatile cross-training shoe built for everything from strength training and HIIT workouts to short runs and everyday wear. The updated sneaker introduces several comfort-focused changes but keeps the same lightweight feel that has made the Cloud X lineup one of the brand’s most popular gym shoes
Retailing for $160, the Cloud X 5 is available in both men’s and women’s sizing. Each style comes in multiple muted colorways, including neutral white, black and earth-tone options

The Cloud X 5’s biggest update is its underfoot. On states that it removed the rigid Speedboard found in previous versions and replaced it with a sculpted footbed that allows the foot to move more naturally during lateral movements, squats and other gym exercises. The shoe still uses the brand’s Helion superfoam midsole and CloudTec cushioning to provide a balance of comfort and stability without feeling overly soft
On also redesigned the engineered mesh upper for better breathability and added extra padding around the heel and tongue to improve step-in comfort. A secure heel hold helps keep the foot in place during workouts, while the rubber outsole is designed to provide traction during side-to-side movements as well as road running
The Cloud X 5 is classified as a neutral shoe with moderate cushioning and an 8 mm heel-to-toe drop. While it’s capable of handling daily runs, On continues to position the Cloud X series primarily as a hybrid training shoe for those who split their time between the gym and the road
For anyone looking for a single pair of shoes that can transition between lifting, fitness classes, treadmill sessions and everyday wear, the Cloud X 5 builds on the previous model with a more flexible platform and a comfort-focused redesign
