Pitt County court accepts guilty plea in 2023 Greenville Planet Fitness killing

Joshua Rosenburg pleaded guilty this week to charges stemming from the 2023 killing of Jayden Harrison, according to a plea document filed in Pitt County Superior Court
The plea transcript shows Rosenburg pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted murder. The plea arrangement states that sentencing is at the discretion of the court
The court accepted the plea, according to the plea adjudication dated Aug. 25, 2026
As part of the plea arrangement, a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in a separate case was dismissed
Rosenburg’s case involves the July 2023 shooting death of 22-year-old Jayden Harrison in the parking lot of a Planet Fitness on Thomas Langston Road in Greenville. According to a previous News 12 report, police said Rosenburg was 17 at the time of the shooting and was later moved from juvenile court to Superior Court, where he was charged as an adult
Police previously said investigators linked Rosenburg to the case through DNA evidence connected to another shooting in Winterville
The plea document lists the offense date for the second-degree murder charge as July 3, 2023, and the attempted murder charge as Dec. 10, 2022
A sentence was not specified in the plea document, which says the sentence will be determined by the court
