MUMBAI: Looks like Raymond Lifestyle stitched together stronger sales, but rising costs left a tear in the bottom line. The company reported a loss for the first quarter of FY27 despite posting higher revenue, as pressure from its apparel and emerging businesses, coupled with elevated costs, overshadowed topline growth

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Raymond Lifestyle’s revenue from operations rose 5.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,515.5 crore, compared with Rs 1,430.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income increased to Rs 1,560.3 crore from Rs 1,474.9 crore

However, the company reported a net loss of Rs 22.6 crore, widening from a loss of Rs 19.8 crore a year earlier. The loss before tax stood at Rs 38.3 crore, compared with Rs 24.8 crore in the year-ago quarter

Higher operating expenses weighed on profitability during the period. Employee benefit costs rose to Rs 238.6 crore from Rs 243.6 crore, while finance costs increased to Rs 63.5 crore from Rs 57.5 crore. Depreciation and amortisation also climbed to Rs 109.4 crore, up from Rs 88.8 crore a year earlier

At the operating level, the Textile business remained the strongest contributor, generating Rs 683.7 crore in revenue and a segment profit of Rs 33.1 crore, although this was lower than the Rs 69.7 crore reported in the same quarter last year

The Shirting business delivered revenue of Rs 195.2 crore, with segment profit remaining broadly stable at Rs 8.8 crore

The Apparel division continued to face headwinds, posting revenue of Rs 348.7 crore and a segment loss of Rs 18.2 crore, compared with a loss of Rs 13.8 crore in the corresponding period last year

The Garmenting business showed signs of improvement, with revenue rising sharply to Rs 295.5 crore from Rs 197 crore, while swinging to a segment profit of Rs 13.8 crore from a loss of Rs 14.9 crore a year ago

Meanwhile, Emerging Businesses generated revenue of Rs 78.9 crore, but reported a segment loss of Rs 38.1 crore, reflecting continued investments in newer growth areas

Overall segment performance weakened during the quarter, with the company reporting a segment loss before finance costs, exceptional items and tax of Rs 4.3 crore, compared with a profit of Rs 13.1 crore in the year-ago period

Raymond Lifestyle ended the quarter with total assets of Rs 14,064.4 crore, while total liabilities stood at Rs 4,464.7 crore. Borrowings increased to Rs 1,333.1 crore, up from Rs 1,275.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, reflecting a more leveraged balance sheet as the company continues to invest across its business portfolio
