Search and rescue exercise to bring large emergency response presence to Mecosta County

People near the Haymarsh State Game Area could see a large number of emergency vehicles and aircraft Saturday as Mecosta County first responders conduct a search and rescue training exercise
The exercise will run from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural Re
Officials said participants will operate in pre-designated areas to avoid campers and other highly congested locations. Signs will also be posted in areas where the exercise is taking place
People in the area could see fire trucks, ambulances, off-road vehicles, police vehicles and aircraft during the training
The Haymarsh State Game Area will remain open to the public during the exercise
Officials said appropriate permits have been obtained from the Michigan DNR
