Tata Chemicals, Small Animal Hospital Mumbai Sign MoU on Pet Nutrition

    By:TheCSRUniverse Team | Updated: 10-Jul-2026 | Published: 09-Jul-2026

Mumbai, July 09, 2026: Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) and the Advanced Veterinary Care Foundation (AVCF), operating as Small Animal Hospital, Mumbai (SAHM), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing the science of pet nutrition and companion animal health

The partnership brings together SAHM’s clinical expertise in small animal healthcare with Tata Chemicals’ capabilities in scientific research, ingredient innovation, and product development, with a shared aim of enhancing the well-being of companion animals

With growing awareness among pet owners about the role of nutrition in animal health, the two organisations plan to jointly identify unmet needs in pet nutrition and translate these insights into science-based, evidence-driven solutions. The collaboration will draw on Tata Chemicals’ research capabilities in ingredient science, prebiotic nutrition, and formulation development, alongside SAHM’s frontline clinical experience and understanding of therapeutic interventions in small animals

Through this partnership, TCL and SAHM seek to contribute to improved digestive health, nutrition, and overall quality of life for companion animals, while responding to the evolving expectations of pet owners for scientifically validated nutrition solutions

The collaboration will remain anchored in scientific excellence and ethical rigor. Any future testing or validation of developed solutions, if required, will be undertaken independently through accredited veterinary institutions in full compliance with applicable ethical and regulatory standards

Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Pramod Batra, Head – Hospital Administration & Services, Small Animal Hospital, Mumbai, said: “At SAHM, we are committed to advancing the standards of care and well-being for companion animals through clinical excellence and compassion. We see this collaboration with Tata Chemicals as an opportunity to contribute our domain expertise towards a structured exchange of knowledge that can inform better nutritional understanding for pets. We look forward to a partnership rooted in science, ethics, and a shared goal of improving animal health outcomes.”

Dr. Richard Lobo, Head – Innovation, R&D, Business Excellence and Chief Ethics Counselor, Tata Chemicals Limited, said: “Our purpose has always been rooted in the belief that science must serve a larger societal good. The collaboration with TATA Small Animal Hospital, Mumbai is an opportunity to extend this enduring philosophy to one of the most needed frontiers of care—the well-being of companion animals, especially those that are rescued and in need of focused attention and care. By bringing together SAHM’s clinical excellence with our capabilities in nutrition science, research, and innovation, we aim to build a robust knowledge ecosystem that advances evidence-based solutions for small animal health. Together, we seek to unlock new insights, shape the future of pet nutrition, and contribute to a world where scientific innovation is guided not only by discovery, but also by empathy, responsibility, and the desire to enhance the quality of life for all living beings.”

The partnership underscores a joint commitment to strengthening the scientific foundation of pet nutrition in India and building a knowledge ecosystem that supports better outcomes for companion animal health

NT-proBNP can help identify feline heart disease, but patient selection matters

    By stamilhstgr0518@gmail.comJuly 11, 20260

Rausch described respiratory distress as one of the settings where NT-proBNP provides substantial clinical value because these patients can be difficult to evaluate quickly. Though the test result should be combined with history, signalment, physical examination, and additional diagnostics, its high diagnostic accuracy makes NT-proBNP a highly valuable tool in high-stakes emergency scenarios
