YOUNG people in North Belfast have been getting fit and active as part of a new summer programme based in Ardoyne’s newly opened ABC Hub
Facilitated by Ardoyne Association, Active Minds, Active Lives, is providing eight sessions for secondary school children focusing on fitness and mental health, with the help of a £4,999 Community Involvement grant from the Housing Executive
Laura Ward, Manager at Ardoyne Association, said: “Delivered from the ABC Hub, our young people have access to a range of activities designed to support both physical and emotional wellbeing
“Activities include everything from gym-based fitness sessions, boxercise, indoor football and basketball and opportunities to get involved in the Hub’s community garden.

“Nutritious lunches are also being provided throughout the programme
“Our project aims to help young people build confidence, develop healthier habits, strengthen friendships and foster a greater sense of belonging within their local community.
“We hope to encourage participants to make full use of the ABC Hub, which has become a valued community asset in North Belfast
“A huge thanks to the Housing Executive for helping us deliver this project.”
