Living in the spotlight often turns private pain into public debate, a reality Kelly Osbourne knows all too well

Life as she knew it was flipped upside down on 22 July last year when her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, died from a heart attack at the age of 76.

One year later, Kelly has moved back to the UK with her three-year-old son, Sidney, whom she shares with Sid Wilson, and is coming to terms with the grief of losing the late Black Sabbath frontman

During what she described as the “hardest year of my life”, Kelly has also dealt with relentless scrutiny about her physical appearance. In her first exclusive photoshoot and interview since the devastating loss of her father, the mother-of-one has broken her silence on her weight loss, admitting she “wasn’t well” and she’s begun the “slow process” of improving her wellbeing

Kelly faced intense body-shaming in February 2026 after attending the Brit Awards with her mother Sharon to accept the posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Ozzy.

Kelly Osbourne admitted she “wasn’t well” but she’s now focusing on her mental and physical wellbeing in a new interview with HELLO!

While she appeared to handle the negative press with poise, she recalled that she was struggling privately. “I didn’t navigate it – I wasn’t well,” Kelly told HELLO! at Berkshire’s Cliveden House. “How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick? I’m getting a lot better. I’ve got all the help I need and I’m grateful for the support I have in my life

    MORE:

“[I have] this incredible team of people I’ve built around me who are not just my friends, because what you’ll find when you’re grieving is that people don’t know how to handle it, and you do lose a lot of friends. But the ones who stick around are the real ones

“To go through what I had to go through on top of all of that just made it even harder. So I just had to ignore it.”

Looking forward, Kelly is taking a steady approach to both her mental and physical health, which she said is “not going to be fixed in a day.”

“It’s one foot in front of the other,” Kelly continued. “You’ve got to fix the head before you can fix the body. It’s a slow process. It’s going to take me a minute. I’m not going to be fixed in a day. I’m not going to be fixed on one therapy session. This is a lifetime of work I’ve got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life

“It’s great discovering things about yourself [in therapy], and the reasons why I do certain things that stem from my childhood. You go all the way back and you’re like: ‘Oh my god, that’s why I do that. That’s crazy.’ I’m getting to know myself in a whole new way, but it’s a lot more healthy, I can tell you that.”

The 41-year-old previously felt the need to publicly address her health after the Brit Awards aired live on ITV

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most,” Kelly penned on her Instagram Stories

“None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanised in such a way.”
