Consumers are looking to supplements to help support “healthspan” — the years of life lived in good health and vitality — according to a new report published by Industry Transparency Centre (ITC)

The trend is now emerging as a macro theme, with a CAGR of >15%

Underpinning this trend is a growing body of scientific evidence positioning mitochondrialhealth as a foundational pillar of “healthspan.”

The organelles generate the energy required for organs, tissues and biological systems to function effectively.

Scientific evidence has demonstrated that mitochondrial health, supported by the naturally occurring antioxidant Ubiquinol— which helps reduce cellular damage — begins to decline naturally from age 20

Thus, supplementation with Ubiquinol could support well-being across life stages from pre-conception to ageing, including cardiovascular health, cognition, women’s health, energy levels and general health

The new “healthspan” trend has several ramifications for the industry:

    • Category creation: the emerging “Mitoceuticals” categoryis positioning mitochondrial health as a new platform for innovation, connecting multiple health categories through cellular function
    • Evolving product development: healthspan is driving demand for clinically substantiated ingredients that support mitochondrial function and cellular health throughout life
    • Commercial opportunity: ingredient suppliers and finished product brands are increasingly looking beyond single-condition solutions towards science-led, systems-based innovation, creating opportunities for differentiated, evidence-backed formulations.

Reflecting the growing interest in “healthspan,” Australian Preventive Cardiologist & Integrative Medicine Physician Dr Ross Walker will headline the Healthy Ageing programme at Growth Asia Summit 2026 in Singapore, July 8-10.

Dr Walker’s keynote presentation, ‘Leading the Healthspan Science: Clinical Innovation and the Ubiquinol Advantage,’ will explore the latest advances in the science of mitochondrial health, cardiovascular health and “healthspan,” highlighting the key role of Ubiquinol in powering mitochondrial function to produce cellular energy, a foundation for maintaining human health across life stages, from pre-conception to health and wellbeing in ageing individuals

The ITC report emphasises a growing consumer awareness that ageing is a biological process that can be supported through evidence-based interventions and a healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise, sleep and stress management

Ubiquinol supports mitochondrial energy production, which is crucial for maintaining health as we age — thus, as the category transitions into the “healthspan” era, it is clear that supporting mitochondrial health will become a key focus for consumers
