This hearing is specifically for North Star’s proposal to close its sleep center at Carthage Area Hospital and the Primary Care & Physical Therapy services at Philadelphia Health Center on U.S. Route 11
This hearing is not to address North Star’s decision to end most maternity services at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. That date hasn’t been announced yet
Tuesday’s (July 28th) public hearing will be at the Carthage Elks Lodge on Fulton Street from 5:30pm to 7pm
A news release says representatives from North Star will provide an overview of the proposed closure, the reasons for the request, the anticipated transition process, and plans to maintain continuity of care for patients
It adds members of the public will have the opportunity to provide comments and ask questions during the hearing. Public comments should be limited to the specific services and proposed regulatory action identified in this notice, as comments received during the hearing will be considered in relation to the state department of health’s review of the proposed closure
