Soyou shifts focus to muscle recovery after father’s passing

Singer Soyou, who had been maintaining her weight after a 20kg loss, recently revealed that she has moved away from strict dieting in favor of healthy weight gain. She shared that her food intake increased due to the encouragement of those around her while grieving the passing of her father, resulting in changes to both her weight and muscle mass. She announced plans to focus on recovering muscle and physical strength rather than pursuing unconditional <a href="https://healthylife7.com/dr-pratayksha-bhardwaj-honoured-with-most-trusted-weight-loss-laser-expert-award-in-delhi/" title="Dr Pratayksha Bhardwaj Honoured with 'Most Trusted Weight Loss & Laser Expert' Award in Delhi”>weight loss

In a video titled “Revealing everything from Soyou’s first health checkup after a 20kg weight loss,” posted on the YouTube channel ‘Soyogi’ on the 24th, Soyou underwent a health checkup for the first time in approximately two years. She expressed interest in her physical condition and test results, saying, “Since I lost a lot of weight, I wonder if there might be some changes in my body.”

On the day of the exam, Soyou’s height was 167cm and her weight was 51.4kg. Her skeletal muscle mass was 20.8kg, and her body fat percentage was 25.5%. Upon checking her muscle mass, Soyou expressed regret, saying, “I lost too much muscle. I worked so hard to build it up.”

Soyou cited the period following her father’s passing as the reason for her recent weight increase. “While going through my father’s situation, people around me kept telling me to eat every time they saw me,” she said, adding, “Because of that, my stomach capacity increased.”

She further explained that there is a significant difference between regulating one’s own food intake and having others restrict food consumption. She noted that she has a tendency to want to eat even more when told not to eat. This suggests that as the encouragement to eat continued during a time of intense sadness and stress, her previously strict diet naturally loosened

Currently, instead of reducing her weight again, Soyou is aiming for healthy weight gain. She explained, “I lost it all at once last year and maintained it until this August. Now, I think my body has adapted.” She stated that instead of excessively restricting specific foods, she is managing her meals by consuming a balanced variety of nutrients and naturally stopping when she feels full

Soyou previously experienced a significant weight change, losing approximately 20kg by dropping from 68kg to 48kg. At that time, she succeeded through strict dieting and exercise, maintaining that weight for a considerable period afterward

However, through this health checkup, she has once again confirmed that physical health cannot be achieved simply by lowering the number on the scale. Soyou’s plan is to shift her strategy toward recovering the muscle mass lost during her weight loss and strengthening her basic physical strength and bodily functions

Soyou plans to rebuild her lost muscle by consuming sufficient carbohydrates and proteins while performing weight training. While her past goal was “losing 20kg,” her focus will now be on restoring the balance of her body composition and physical strength rather than the weight itself

Soyou’s decision to objectively assess her condition and adjust her management direction shows a shift in perception regarding weight management—moving from a simple competition of numbers to a focus on body composition and overall health. For Soyou, the priority is no longer how much lighter she can become, but how healthy a body she can rebuild
