TOPS 1573 Nashville opened its July 21 meeting with the organization’s pledges
Gaye Keller was named the week’s best loser. She advised members to watch their carbs
Leo Tope was named the best KOPS
Tope presented a program from TOPS News magazine titled “Vegetables Matter — Is a Plant-Based Diet Right for You?”
A plant-based diet encourages whole plant foods while discouraging meat, dairy products and refined or processed foods. Plant-based foods can benefit several body functions and health conditions. For people with obesity, they may help reduce weight and waist circumference. For those with diabetes, they may improve insulin sensitivity and lower A1C levels
Plant-based diets also may support cardiovascular health by lowering cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure and inflammation. They may improve the gut microbiome and support colon health
TOPS 1573 Nashville meets Tuesdays at Nashville Global Methodist Church. Weigh-in begins at 5 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5:30 p.m
